Meet Rachid

Even though he initially applied at Thuisbezorgd.nl mostly to overcome his boredom, Rachid ended up finding work that he really enjoyed, made some friends and even met his now girlfriend.

Rachid was looking for something to fill his time with and decided to apply for a job as a courier at Thuisbezorgd.nl. “I started working here because I wanted to do something and I was very bored. I ended up liking it much more than I thought”.

It wasn’t just a good way to spend his time, but also a way to keep fit and explore the city. “It’s really nice that you’re constantly moving, so it’s healthy. But I also like seeing the city and all the people in it – seeing new people and familiar faces at the restaurants”. 

A real people person, the community is one of the main reasons Rachid enjoys working at Thuisbezorgd.nl so much. “Outside of work, I like to hang out a lot with my friends and my girlfriend – and family as well. I’ve met my girlfriend [at work], and I have a lot of friends that are also colleagues. I’d say at least half my time I spend with colleagues, outside of work. I keep getting to know new people, and with people who stay – we become friends”.

When asked what the best thing about work is, he answers: “The diversity in people, definitely. I just really enjoy working with lots of different types of people. It keeps it a bit exciting – more exciting at least than when it's not very diverse, in my opinion”. 

As for new couriers, Rachid advises: “Enjoy the city, but be prepared for what the outside can bring you – like the weather. That’s the main thing, because I think sometimes people underestimate it”. And how to cope with the Dutch weather? “The clothes, of course. Seeing people also helps, but mainly reminding myself that I’ll be home and warm soon!”
